An available update may be required for your computer, but the update process couldn’t verify information.

Sometimes when you setup client updates functionality in GP 10.0 and do not specify the correct information, the message above will appear upon login and the system will shutdown.

I found this question on the Dynamics Newsgroup and realized that it should be solved somewhere, the solution for this is only by going to Dynamics database, locate “SYUPDATE” table and delete the records saved there.

Hope this helps.

  1. I experienced this error when I moved the file that the update was pointing to. When I went into the SYUpdates table and corrected the UNC path, the error went away. I hope this helps.

It ended up being my path as well. I had renamed a folder, not realizing it wouldn’t even let me start GP after that. All of a sudden no one in the company could use GP! Thanks to you guys, I was able to fix it fast. I couldn’t find anything on CustomerSource, but found this right away. Thanks to both of you for the great help!

  3. I am glad to hear that! Thanks for your comment 🙂

Thanks for this. I restored our backups to our disaster recovery site (which is of course on a different domain). I’m floored that this update check isn’t just skipped when it’s obvious that client version matches the live version!! No wait… I’m not surprised at all : )

  5. Thanks! Saved my evening tonight…

    Thanks,
I ran into this when I was cleaning up old GP 10 installation folders. When you upgrade to GP 2010, this table will still have old entries from GP 10 that need to be deleted.
